Hi just to remind you that the Heron pit is still closed whilst it has a bit of a make over, and that Petes Pool is closed Sunday 15th Jan for a match booking. The fishery has been fairly busy considering we are still in in the winter months. The mild weather has encouraged lots of silvers and the odd carp to make an appereance, when using lighter tackle and smaller hookbaits....see you soon

Autumn Fishing!27th Oct 2011
Take a look at our new pictures of Fishing in the Northwest's Adam Bowen who fished Pete’s Pool this week. Considering the day started off very autumnal, the fish were feeding well, especially in the afternoon sunshine. Using halibut soft hooker, 4mm pellet and hemp over the top, ended up bagging him a net of silvers and small carp. Adam suggests: “Feeding little and often. If your fishing pole, I would get a pole pot to keep your feed tight, I found that if you spread out your loose feed bites tailed off. I was about 1 inch over depth on the bottom, the bites are slight and shy so drop your float low in the water and strike at everything as even little lift bites were carp.’ More of Adams fishing tips can be found at www.fishinginthenorthwest.co.uk
So take advantage of these beautiful autumn days ( we might not have many left) and get fishing!

Pete Baker Memorial Charity Match 20115th Sept 2011
On Sunday 4th September we held our annual charity match in memory of my dad, Pete Baker, who I started the fishery with back in 2001. The turn out was great, the sun was shining and the pockets were being emptied! We raised a massive £440 for Age Concern, which we are all so proud of- so a big thank you to everyone who took part. We had a new lake record on the Heron Pit, taken by Matty Dawes, who bagged a whopping 29lb on peg number 11. He was followed by regular, Bob Edwards, who netted a mixed bag of 18.8lb on peg 19 ( this peg always gets placed!). 3rd place was given to Steven Radcliffe who weighed in with 12.8lb on peg 17. Adam Bowen ( peg 25), Martin Hardaker ( peg 8) and Colin Dwyer ( peg 21) all landed a decent carp too.
The Kids match was a great success and its so encouraging to see youngsters taking up the sport. 1st place was awarded to Kristain Jones, on peg 3 who weighed in with an impressive 3.9lb, he was closely followed by Ryan McGrevy on peg 7 who had a 3lb bag. 3rd place went to little 5 year old Bryonie Davies and special acknowledgment Emma McGrevy for taking part. The fish werent being particularly kind and made the kids work for it!
The day really was fantastic, everyone was up for a laugh, not taking it too seriously and all being so generous towards the charity. A special thank you to Phil Broderick from Fisheries Direct for sponsoring the kids match, Lionels Tackle for prize donation, The Four Oaks staff for helping to get the fishery ready and everyone who took part. Lets hope next year will be even better! Photos to follow soon….
Four Oaks Charity Match!24th Aug 2011
Hi and welcome to the Four Oaks Fishery Blog page . As most of you will know every year we hold a Memorial Match in memory of my dad, Pete Baker. Its a fun day, not taken too seriously, where we raise money for a local charity whilst remembering my dad. The last few years we have raised over £400 from each match and have had some great days fishing! This years chosen charity is Age Uk (formerly Age Concern) who are a charity close to my heart. There are still a few tickets left, the Adult match which is held on the Heron pit tickets are £13 and the kids match held on Petes Pool are £11. The date is Sunday 4th September and tickets include some light refreshment. If you cannot make the match but would still like to support us we are holding a raffle with some great prizes ! Contact us for more information.
Fishing news- both pools have been fishing great, Petes pool in particular has seen lots of carp around the 7, 8 and 9lb mark. Meat, Maggot and corn always proving popular baits ( I have seen muscles, prawn and dog biscuits on the bank too!) The Heron Pit is always that bit trickier , but the carp are still coming out, as are chubb up to a couple of lb and as usual the bream are making lots of appearances! Please feel free to forward on to us some of your photos. Please note that from the 1st September we will no longer be doing evening sessions and last entry is 5pm, thanks and Happy fishing!
